Description
A rare British naval officers fighting sword made by Francis Thurkle, circa 1790-1795. The sword of 36.75 inches overall with a long slender spear point blade of 31.5 inches ( probably the fore runner of the 1805 pattern ) The angular D shaped brass hilt stamped F T with figured, ribbed bone grip. The sword shows ware, minor losses to the grip and light surface pitting to the blade. A very good period piece from the Napoleonic wars.
