Napoleonic British Infantry Officers Spadroon

British infantry officers spadroon, circa 1760 with Spanish inscription.

A very interesting and rare British infantry officers blue and gilt spadroon, circa 1760. Thirty eight and a half inches overall with a thirty two inch diamond section spear point blade. stylised cushion pommel with slotted grip and black bone grip. The blade still retains some of its original blue and gilt and shows the Crown GR 111 cypher with regimental crest. The most interesting is the Spanish inscription on both sides of the blade, these were not additions but placed on the blade during its manufacture. One side reads By the King, by God, by Law and the reverse For the King. Some pitting and rust marks but otherwise in good condition.
