Description
A very rare 18th century British naval signal cannon, circa 1750. This well preserved period cannon on contempary yolk and display stand. The three stage cannon of 13.5 inches overall with a 1 inch bore made from cast iron. Excellent overall condition. This type of signal cannon was typical for all naval vessels. Mounted on its yolk, it was slotted onto the gunnel wall and fired to indicate that flags were being raised to relay a message.
Mounted on a display stand made from English walnut and stands 13 inches high. This is very suited as a desk ornament or a feature and talking point in the office.
