Description
A very strange, “one off” Victorian naval dirk. This large Bowie type knife with German silver mounts, bone twist grip and etched blade showing the Crown and fouled anchor on one side and the Crown and VR on the reverse. seventeen inches overall with a twelve and a quarter inch blade. Housed in a German silver mounted scabbard. Possibly a private purchase for an acting officer but more likely a presentation piece.
