Description
An unusual, top quality flintlock carbine by Richards, circa 1790. This superb quality seven groove rifled carbine of .58 calibre. Nineteen and a half inch, sighted and swamped heavy octagonal barrel. Full walnut stock of 34 inches with raised cheek piece and bone forend. The mounts are of heavily decorated brass. The heavily constructed lock, signed Richards in excellent working order and includes a set trigger, with the adjustment screw just behind the trigger. This interesting piece has a continental influence and certainly would be accurate at a range. It would have been a comfortable companion as a livery piece or just as much at home on a carriage. Shows very little sign of use. A good investment or collectors piece.
