This is a fine late 18th century dirk originating from earlier parts. twenty one inches overall. The fifteen and a half inch blade is of mid 17th century form and probably originally used for hunting. It is engraved with a Turk holding a sword, trophies of arms, the sun and moon. the hilt is from a late 17th/ early 18th century small sword and the reeded bone grip of late 18th century military design. This has all been put together by a professional cutler and most likely for an officer serving in the Napoleonic war.
