A very rare, Bacon Arms Company percussion under hammer bayonet pistol. Good condition and working order. This very robust pistol of 9.5 inches overall with a 5 inch octagonal barrel and 4.75 inch flip bayonet, .49 calibre ( 40 bore ). The pistol was made either just before or during the American civil war. The owner would have wanted a pistol that could be easily concealed and could provide the maximum impact if required, it probably would have been accompanied by a small calibre revolver. We had the great pleasure of selling this very pistol over 18 years ago and have never seen another. Our original research concluded that it was made by the Bacon arms Co as the pistol is unmarked.
