Description
A very rare flintlock pistol by Turland, circa 1680. Made in the later period of reign of Charles the second. This massive pistol of 21 inches with a three stage 16 inch, proofed barrel of .49 calibre. The full walnut stock still showing some of its carved decoration. Iron mounts with elaborate side plate and grotesque masked butt cap. The lock, is in good working order and signed TURLAND. Ware throughout, some small wood losses and re-fixings. A very tactile piece of history.
