A good pre baker rifle, flintlock officers musket carbine, circa 1790. The full walnut stock of the carbine resembles that of a scaled down Brownbess of the period. forty two inches overall with a twenty eight inch two stage, sighted, octagonal to round .65 bore barrel. Brass mounts with foliated lock plate. The lock is in good condition with a crisp action and strong main spring. The carbine would have been a private purchase by a serving infantry officer.
