Description

A fine flintlock dueller or target pistol by Staudenmayer of London from the first quarter of the 19th century. Staudenmayer served his apprenticeship under Manton and later operated his own fine gun business from 1802 to 1825. The pistol itself is sixteen inches overall with a .44 bore octagonal Damascus twist barrel of ten inches. Gold lined touch hole and bar with inset rose gold escutcheon, steel mounts and spur trigger guard. Excellent crisp flintcock action with roller frizzen and well engraved lock plate signed Staudenmayer. The walnut half stock with finely chequered grip and horn forend cap. A very nice example.
